2021 Film 'MLK JR BLVD' wins Davey Award from the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts. The short film is directed by Kareem McMichael. 2020 Film 'MLK JR BLVD' is selected as a Finalist in the Southeast Regional Film Festival. The short film is directed by Kareem McMichael. 2019 Film 'MLK JR BLVD' wins Best Student Film at the Charlotte Black Film Festival. The short film is directed by Kareem McMichael. 'Feed the Hungry' documentary is a Finalist in the Green Mountain Christian Film Festival. Film 'MLK JR BLVD' is selected as a Semi-Finalist in the Los Angeles Cinesfest. The short film is directed by Kareem McMichael. 2018 ‘New Order of the Ages’, written by Kareem McMichael, wins 2nd place in the Exit Stage Right playwriting contest at East Georgia College. ‘The Gift’, a short film produced and written by Kareem McMichael, was accepted into the Boston Galactic Film Festival (Boston, MA) and the Poison Peach Film Festival (Augusta, GA). 2017 ‘Feed the Hungry’, a documentary produced by Kareem McMichael, was accepted into the Georgia Latino Film Festival (Atlanta, GA), 12 Month Film Festival (Romania), Miami Independent Film Festival (Miami, FL), Philadelphia International Film Festival and Market (Philadelphia, PA), and a semi-finalist in the Atlanta Docu Fest (Atlanta, GA). The documentary won 2nd place at the Philadelphia International Film Festival and Market and Best Cinematography at the 12 Month Film Festival. ‘Crazy Night’, a short film directed and produced by Kareem McMichael, was accepted into the No Strings Attached Online Film Festival. The films selected for this festival was used to entertain troops serving overseas. ‘Love Drought’, a short film written and directed by Kareem McMichael, was accepted into the 12 Month Film Festival and won 3rd place Experimental Film and Best Actress Charnae Ware. ‘The C Files’ a short film produced by Kareem McMichael, was accepted into the Forwardian Film Festival. ‘Natalia’, a short film written, produced and directed by Kareem McMichael was accepted in the Oasis Short Film Festival and Forwardian Film Festival. 2016 ‘Best Friends’, a short film written and produced by Kareem McMichael, was accepted in the Urban Film Festival (Miami, FL), First Friday Film Festival (Kansas City, MI), 12 Month Film Festival (Romania), and the Poison Peach Film Festival. The film won Best New Urban Film at the Urban Film Festival. 2015 ‘Road to Desegregation’, documentary produced and directed by Kareem McMichael, was accepted into the Humboldt International Film Festival (Arcata, CA). It won the award for Best Documentary with a Social Justice Theme. ‘Crazy Night’, a short film directed and produced by Kareem McMichael, was accepted into the SSU Indie Film Festival. The film won the People’s Choice Award, Best Directing, Best Screenplay, and Best Musical Score. ‘The C Files’ a short film produced by Kareem McMichael, was accepted into the SSU Indie Film Festival. The film won the award for Best Cinematography. 2014 ‘Road to Desegregation’, documentary produced and directed by Kareem McMichael, won 1st place in the video contest at the Southern Regional Press Institute (Savannah, GA) 2011 ‘Best Friends’, written by Kareem McMichael, wins 2nd place in the Exit Stage Right playwriting contest at East Georgia College. |

2021-2023 Kareem McMichael was elected to serve the as the Communications and Membership Outreach Coordinator for the Telfair Museums Friends' of African American Art (FAAA) Board. Kareem McMichael serves on the board for the Film Program (former Georgia Film Academy) at Savannah Technical College. 2020-2023 Kareem McMichael was appointed to his 2nd term on the Cultural Affairs Commission by Savannah City Council. 2019-2023 Kareem McMichael served on the Savannah Film Academy (former Georgia Film Academy) Advisory Board at Savannah Technical College. 2019-2023 Kareem McMichael was elected to serve on the Board of Governors for the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Southeast Emmy chapter. 2017-2020 Kareem McMichael was appointed to his 1st term on the Cultural Affairs Commission by Savannah City Council. 2015-2016 Kareem McMichael was appointed to his 1st term on the Savannah Film Commission by Savannah City Council. |
